Online Guidelines

The FA recognises that internet and mobile phone communication can be a useful tool for those involved in football to reach the wider public and to easily contact people within their organisation. Everyone in football should also be aware of the potential risks involved with this type of communication and in particular when contacting under 18's.

In response to requests for advice the FA has developed a series of guidelines to support coaches, officials, referee mentors and those in a position of responsibility in clubs and leagues in order that they can communicate safely and successfully.

  • Social Networking, websites, mobile phone and email communications
  • Running a Website - Do's and Dont's
  • Responsible use of social networking sites
  • Communicating responsibly with Young Leaders, Coaches and Referees under 18
  • Using Text and Emails with Under 18's - Do's and Dont's
  • Guidance for parents and carers
  • Guidance for under 18's

The guidelines can be downloaded from related documents on the right.

Clubs/Leagues are reminded that comments placed on websites or social networking sites, in relation to football, may result in disciplinary action being taken in line with the FA's disciplinary policies and procedures.
