
For whom?
For those 16 and over who have completed the current FA Emergency Aid Course and looking to take more advanced medical courses offered by the FA.
Candidates must hold a current Emergency Aid Certificate as a pre-requisite.
Content
Provides candidates with knowledge and understanding of First Aid, sufficient to be able to offer appropriate care and manage a range of illnesses and injuries sustained in sport.
Objectives
On successful completion of the course, candidates should be able to:
- Describe the duties, responsibilities, general treatment principles, and priorities of a first aid provision.
- Demonstrate an understanding of basic an anatomy and physiology in relation to first aid.
- Describe the elements of pre-event preparation in relation to first aid provision.
- Provide logical Initial Assessments and appropriate use of barriers and infection control.
- Recognise and respond to the signs and symptoms of common illnesses.
- Recognise and respond to the signs and symptoms of common injuries.
Progression
Candidates who complete this course will have the opportunity to progress on to the Level 2 Basic Treatment of Injuries course.
