Level 3 Licence in Coaching Football (L3CCF)

Awarded in partnership with The F.A. this qualification provides an exciting opportunity for candidates to advance their practical team coaching skills. On successful completion of the Certificate, candidates are qualified to coach the skills and techniques of football to both adults and children. Each candidate is fully supported in developing his/her knowledge and skills during the qualification.

Qualification Outline

The Level 3 Certificate is a vocationally related qualification that sits at Level 3 of the National Qualifications Framework. It is explicitly linked to the Level 3 Sport and Recreation National Occupational Standards for Coaching, Teaching and Instruction and the Level 3 Technical Definition and Assessment Specification for Association Football. This qualification is also accredited as a UEFA 'B' Coaching Award.

Who should enrol?

Students should be coaches or prospective coaches who have achieved the 1st4sport Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Football. Candidates for the Certificate should be working with a team over an extensive period of time, with the aim of making a significant contribution to the performance of their team. Extensive experience of the sport and playing career is a helpful prior qualification.

What will I learn?

In addition to expanding knowledge on all aspects covered in the Level 2 Certificate, successfully achieving the Level 3 Certificate will enable candidates to:

Demonstrate an understanding of the knowledge required to plan, conduct and evaluate football coaching programmes
Plan, conduct and evaluate individual coaching sessions within a structured and progressive coaching programme of advanced individual techniques, group skills and the principles of play
Coach the skills and techniques of the game as defined by the Technical Syllabus, including the principles of attack and defence through the use of phases of play, functional practices and small sided games (8v8)
Coach the sport through an appropriate understanding of the Laws of the Game.

The student must demonstrate competence in practical coaching and satisfactorily complete a range of theory worksheets. There are at least 74 guided learning hours of instructor training followed by 3-4 months practical coaching experience of at least 16 hours, recorded in log book. There are a further 16 hours dedicated to assessment.

How is the award assessed?

Candidates will be assessed via knowledge tests, projects, assignments of their practical coaching during the course. A final external assessment at which the candidate must demonstrate their coaching ability through the coaching of at least two sessions from the technical syllabus at this level.

Note:

Candidates must be in possession of a 1st4sport Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Football. The candidates must also possess an up-to-date child protection and emergency aid certificate (validation period = 3 years from award of certificate)
