In 2011 Hertfordshire FA in partnership with Watford FC were granted a licence by The FA to run a Disability Football Player Development Centre throughout the county.
The purpose of The Football Association Disability Player Development Centre Programme is to identify players deemed to posses a higher level of ability from within grassroots youth football and place them in a technical programme designed to promote individual football development and promote progression to and involvement in Regional Impairment Specific Centres of Excellence or mainstream football activity.
As part of the Disability Player Pathway, a Disability Player Development Centre should represent an opportunity for players to access higher level coaching and dedicated support. The Centre will also provide the host County FA with an environment in which an individual’s suitability to progress to a Regional opportunity can be assessed.
It is envisaged that a number of players in any given Centre will be prominent members of a Regional Impairment Specific Centre of Excellence and will utilise the local opportunity as additional training and developmental provision.
After the success of the 2010-2011 Disability Centre of Excellence, Hertfordshire FA have continued their partnership with Watford Football Club to deliver the Player Development Centre.
The Disability Player Development centre will operate a four year age band for players aged 12-16 (i.e. impacting Under 13, Under 14, Under 15 and Under 16 age bands within Season 11-12).
The Hertfordshire PDC will run for fifteen weeks between October and March, and training will be held the following venue:
Venue: Ashlyns School, Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, HP4 3AH Day: Wednesday Time: 7pm - 8:30pm
