The Hertfordshire Football Association will open up its 3 Lions FC Girls Programme for 2010/2011 to all clubs in the County currently offering girl's football in the next couple of months.
The programme is a strand of the School/Cub Link but directly for developing girl’s football, linking Hertfordshire FA affiliated clubs to their local schools, to create and build upon existing links, support and assist clubs with developing new teams and strengthening existing teams that clubs may already have.
The aims of the 3 Lions FC Girls Programme is to:
Establish links between schools and clubs and coaching support for players/staff.
Provide clubs with an intake of new players.
To assist clubs in funding/acquiring new equipment & promotional resource packages to all clubs/schools hosting the programmes.
Give players the opportunity to play in a fun, friendly and safe environment throughout the duration of the programme and then the opportunity to progress to playing regularly as part of a charter standard club.
In 2010/2011 the programme will once again target Under 9s but will also include the under 8s age group too.
Clubs will deliver taster sessions in selected schools during and after school curriculum time. A coaching course will then be run for 8 weeks and held in conjunction with schools and clubs in the School Sports Partnership areas working closely with the schools Partnership Development Managers (PDMs), Sports Development Officers and the School Sports Coordinators (SSCOs).
All 3 Lions FC Programmes for 2010/2011 will commence from September onwards. The 8 week coaching programmes will be commence shortly after the taster sessions have taken place in the schools (either after the October half term or after the February half term or Easter holiday period).

(The coaching programmes are open to all, not just for girls within the participating schools)
For the last 2 years each of the 3 Lions FC Programme being deleivered has linked into the Herts Youth Games (HYG), producing a team to represent their district. The Herts Youth Games is about giving the girls a great day with friends they have made on the programme and experience the opportunities available as part of a group/team.
