Hertfordshire Girls Football Partnership League

‘Promoting the development of girl’s football in Hertfordshire’

The Hertfordshire Girls Football Partnership League (HGFPL) is moving forward into its 3rd season (2010/2011).

Next season is proving to be an exciting year ahead for girls football, as the league continues to grow from 42 teams to potentially 69teams competing in the Hertfordshire based league.

The league is competitive but also continues to focus on the development of the players skills on and off the pitch but also looking at the overall game and working with coaches and spectators to enhance the environment of the beautiful game.

In 2009/2010 the Hertfordshire FA was thrilled to announce that the Hertfordshire Girls Football Partnership League (HGFPL) became the first league in the county to be awarded with the FA's Charter Standard League accreditation.

The league was formed to provide football development to girls who have either come into the game at a late age, want to develop their skills but cannot compete in highly competitive leagues or who just want to play football for fun and with their friends.

After the successful creation of the Herts Girls Football Partnership festivals in 2006/2007, the next step was to formalise and create a new provision in Hertfordshire to carry on the ethos and aim of the festivals that the clubs so badly needed.

This led onto the new Hertfordshire Girls Football Partnership League being formed and after months and years of hard work from volunteers within local clubs who shared a passion for the girls game and wanted to help drive the development of girls football in Hertfordshire forward, we now have a girls league in Hertfordshire to be proud of.

Hertfordshire FA's Football Development Officer (Women & Girls) Louisa Suff said 'We have come along way in the County in the last couple of seasons trying to improve the provision of girls football at club level and here at the Hertfordshire FA I am proud to say that the hard work is paying off and I would like to extend my thanks and appreciation to those dedicated members of the league and the driving force behind it'.

The new league provides a safe friendly environment for the girls to develop not only as footballers but in social aspects. Their love of the game knows no boundaries; they just want to play football! The age groups range from U8's to U17s.

The ethos is, be competitive but do not win at all costs, develop the girls through structured, competitive friendly games, encourage positive attitude from the touchline and educate all coaches and managers.

If you are interested in finding a team within the league or would like to enter a team please contact league secretary Kerry Reed.
