CRB checks help to create a safer environment and identify those who may be a risk to children and vulnerable adults.
Who should have a CRB check?
• Welfare Officers • Coaches • Managers • First Aiders • Referees • Club Committee members • Regular nominated drivers This is only for drivers acting on behalf of the club. This does not include those simply taking their child and his/her friend which is an independent arrangement.
How do I check the volunteers at my club?
The Club Welfare Officer (CWO) will become the lead person for CRB within the club. They can apply to the CRB unit and request the FA CRB pack 1. 0845 210 80 80 or crb@thefa.com
Once the CWO has completed the check, pack 2 will be sent and they are able to process the rest of the club. Clubs will be able to monitor the progress of the CRB checks via CRB on line.
What if there is something on my CRB?
Each case is taken on its merits and minor offences may not be significant. The age, type of offence and court decision will also be taken into consideration.
Who will see my CRB?
• The law requires that the information is kept confidential • You will get a copy • The FA will get a copy • The information will not be shared with anyone at your club
What does it cost?
There is a £12 administration fee for volunteers. Those receiving an income from football pay £48.
