Bedwell Rangers Are South of England Champions

On Saturday 3rd May Bedwell Rangers Girls U16 travelled down to Roehampton Vale, Surrey to play in the South of England Finals, sponsored by TESCO's.

Stevenage based club Bedwell Rangers who were Representing Hertfordshire in the South of England Finals met opposition from Sussex and Essex in the Group Stages.  They beat Essex 3-0 in their first game and Sussex 6-0 in their second which put them through to the Final where they played Surrey.

Surrey who had won their Group came out strong but Bedwell overpowered them but dominating the whole game in eventually winning by 1-0 with the to be player of the tournament Megan Wynne scoring the only goal of the game.

Warren Barton Ex England, Newcastle and Wimbledon footballer was on hand to present the prizes for the day to Bedwell Rangers for their achievement on winning the Final but also to Megan for being Nominated Player of the Tournament.

Bedwell Rangers now will meet the respective winners from the North, Western and Midland sections in the English Finals which are being held at Leicester City FC on Saturday 10th May. If Bedwell are successful on Saturday they will then represent England in the National Finals which are being held at the City of Manchester Stadium on Sunday 18th May 2008.

The Hertfordshire FA would like to wish Bedwell Rangers the best of luck for Saturday and Congratulate them on what has been a remarkable achievement so far.
