Berkhamsted Raiders FC are one of Hertfordshire FA's newest Community Clubs and finished last season by winning three awards at the Hertfordshire FA County Awards, including Hertfordshire FA Charter Standard Community Club of the Year.
By winning that award they were put forward against clubs for Bedfordshire, Essex, Cambridgeshire, Suffolk and Norfolk and were chosen as winners by a panel of FA staff.
Club Chairman Keith Pollard was delighted with the achievement "The award of FA Eastern Region Community Club of the Year is a fantastic achievement for the Raiders. Our Development Officer, Paul Russell has worked closely with Ken Headington at Hertfordshire FA in ensuring that Raiders sets a standard which we hope that many other junior football clubs can emulate "
"This year we will have a record number of members - over 400 boys and girls playing from Under 7 to Under 18, and are expanding our influence into local schools through our “Coaching in the Community” initiative".
Hertfordshire FA Development Officer, Ken Headington was full of praise for the club "Berkhamsted Raiders have done fantastically well since achieving their Community status. They are always keen to get involved in all aspects of the work we do here and picked awards not only for the club but also individuals at our County Awards through Oli Meacher and Paul Russell to round off a great season and it's good to see them getting wider recognition for their work".
All clubs in Hertfordshire are eligible to apply for Charter Standard status and this should be done initially by contacting Ken Headington in the office on 01462 650222.
