Have you ever wanted to train every day like the pro’s, watch Watford’s 1st team train at UCL or even sit in the technical area with the Scholars and coaching staff at Vicarage Road?
Well now is your chance!
Watford Football Club’s Community Sports and Education Trust in partnership with Hertswood School is currently recruiting talented young football players aged 16 – 18 for the highly successful Impact Centre of Football Excellence programme.
This exciting programme provides players with the chance to combine academic studies with practical football and coaching – an experience similar to that of Watford FC’s own Academy to which players may progress.
Success stories:
• One player from the Impact Centre of Football Excellence has signed a contract with Watford Football Club.
• A further four players have played for Watford’s youth team during trial periods.
• Numerous players have moved onto non league clubs at various levels within the football pyramid.
• Two players have represented their country at Senior and U19 level.
• A number of Impact players have progressed to university following the completion of their two year BTEC course.
• Numerous Impact players have coached in the USA following the completion of the IMPACT course.
During their time on either of the programmes, players will complete the either a BTEC First Diploma in Sport, BTEC National Certificate in Sport Level 3 or a BTEC Extended Diploma in Sport Level 3 as well as the Level 1 and Level 2 football coaching certificates plus a referee certificate.
Next September (2012), we are delighted to introduce IMPACT PLUS, a football programme designed specifically for students wishing to pursue Advanced Level qualifications and participate in our internationally recognised IMPACT programme.
Until now we have restricted the subject options for IMPACT students in order to ensure they succeed whether they study level 2 or level 3 Btec Sport. Having developed the programme to enable students to study for the Extended Diploma and so gain the required number of points for university we are now altering the structure of the programme for a chosen few to allow students to choose from the full range of ‘A’ level options which Hertswood has on offer.
IMPACT PLUS is for those students who wish to pursue an academic pathway leading to university. Students should be able to organise themselves to study independently whilst participating in rigorous training sessions delivered by professional coaches from Watford Football Club and regular competitive matches on a weekly basis. Students wishing to choose IMPACT PLUS should achieve a grade ‘B’ at GCSE in the subject they wish to study at ‘A’ level.
Players will also gain valuable coaching experience with the award winning Community Club of the Year 2008 & 2010 as well as gain an insight to the professional game.
Other benefits include:
• Full WFC training wear
• Daily training sessions with UEFA qualified coaches
• Weekly competitive fixtures
• Opportunities to progress to Watford’s very own Academy
• Links with other professional and non league clubs
• Have access to WFC 1st team home matches
• Training ground visits to watch WFC 1st team
• Referee course
• Plus much more
The scheme is offering interested young people currently in years 11 and 12 the opportunity to attend football trials that will allow Watford FC coaches to assess and recruit players for the 2012/13 season. Successful players will represent Watford’s CSE Trust in the Football Conference Youth League, The English Colleges League and the SESSA League.
