Vote for Ted Collie in the FA People's Award 2017. Vote for grassroots football in Hertfordshire.

Hertfordshire FA is delighted to announce that local grassroots football volunteer Edward Collie - known as Ted - has been nominated for the prestigious FA People’s Award.

Known as the Outstanding Contribution award in county and regional rounds, The FA People’s Award is very special and celebrates exceptional volunteering efforts in local football. It also carries the added status of being the only FA Award category open for a public vote.

Ted was chosen from hundreds of nominations to represent the Greater London region, and will be up against 5 other fantastic volunteers from across England for the award.

We’re encouraging the whole football community in Hertfordshire to get behind Ted’s nomination.

And it’s so easy to vote… All you have to do is click the link below and log in using your FAN, Facebook or Twitter login details.

Vote for Ted

Ted was nominated for the award having served football - through a range of voluntary roles - unselfishly and enthusiastically for over 50 years. He is currently the Chairman of the Herts Senior County League (HSCL) and also president of Hatfield Town FC.

His dedication to provide opportunities for people to play the game he loves has meant that he’s been on the forefront of innovation in the game for a number of years. Ted was instrumental in helping to develop Inclusive (pan-disability) divisions within the HCSL.

The Inclusive division has gone from strength to strength and is now in its 4th full season.

About the Award:

This is an award by The FA to recognise an individual that has made a long-term impact on the game we all love.

County and regional winners of the ‘Outstanding Contribution to Community Football’ category enter the ‘People’s Award’, which is voted for by the public and the winner is then announced at The FA Community Awards national ceremony.

In addition to the Inclusive League, Ted has also been at the sharp end of addressing adult participation in 11v11football. His dedication to solving this problem has been very impressive too.

From studying FA resources and toolkits, to chairing a ‘Leagues Steering Group’ with volunteers from other adult leagues in the County to define and solve the problems that they’re facing.

Ted’s drive to provide football for all doesn’t stop there though.

Over the past six years Ted has also helped to organise and develop the Herts AID Cup with local charity Herts Aid.

Now in its 6th year, the Herts AID Cup is an 11v11 adult men’s football tournament, which caters for 8-12 teams from BME communities in Hertfordshire. The focus of the day is on exercise, health and wellbeing with resources available on sexual health awareness, diabetes, and smoking cessation.

You have until 30 July 2017 to cast your vote for Ted, and add his name to the prestigious list of volunteer heroes that have won the national award in past years.
