Congratulations on being chosen as The FA’s Grassroots League of the Year!

The FA has announced that the Herts Senior County League are the national Grassroots League of the Year 2020

HSCL were recently announced as one of the winners in the 2020 Hertfordshire FA Grassroots Football Awards, having been selected by a panel of local judges following nominations made by the public earlier this year.

Following this, all County FA winners from across the country then go on to be considered by The FA for the National Award in their respective category and we are delighted to announce that the Hertfordshire Senior County League have come out on top against strong competition to be chosen as the national Grassroots League of the Year 2020.

The FA and McDonalds Grassroots Football Awards publicly acknowledge the work recognise and celebrate the work of volunteers to instil The FA’s PRIDE values – Progressive, Respectful, Inclusive, Determination and Excellent – and whose actions make a positive difference to their community through grassroots football.

We felt that HSCL had been outstanding in demonstrating these values when running their League and are delighted that the national judging panel agreed.

Karl Lingham, Chief Executive Officer of Hertfordshire FA said:

"It is an achievement to win a Grassroots Football Award at the county level with the quality of nominations we receive in Hertfordshire, but to be recognised on the national platform when being considered alongside the 50 winners chosen by all the other counties in a category is truly remarkable.

Both Scott Patmore [League Secretary] and Ted Collie [Chairman] have shown great desire in developing the League and have been working tirelessly with their Management Committee and their Clubs to continuously improve and grow.

When they achieved Charter Standard status last year, that showed their commitment to providing well organised football in safe and inclusive environment, which helps to attract and retain players and clubs. In a time when the adult male game faces a number of challenges they have been able to expand, increasing participation in open aged football as well as adding diversity with an Inclusive Division for disabled men and women.

On behalf of Hertfordshire FA I wish to congratulate both the League, their member Clubs and all of the officials and volunteers for the outstanding work they have done and the platform they are building. We look forward to supporting them in reaching their goals for the future - well done".
