COURSE DETAILS

Awarded by The FA, this course is designed to explore the role of a grassroots football Welfare Officer.

This two-hour workshop is mandatory for anyone taking on the role of Welfare Officer for their grassroots club or league. Building on the Safeguarding Children Workshop, it focuses on the specifics of the role, what is required, and the key tools needed to carry out the role. It also explains where to go for professional support and guidance, and how to access more information if needed.

Delivered via a virtual classroom, learners should expect an interactive session and will be encouraged to participate through a chat function as well as via microphone, where relevant.

During this course you will cover:

  • Safeguarding frameworks
  • Taking action
  • Recruitment, education, monitoring and compliance
  • Children’s voices

Technical Requirements

You can access the virtual classroom through your mobile phone, tablet, PC or laptop. We would recommend using the largest device you have available for the best learning experience. The virtual classroom is powered by Microsoft Teams. You will need to download the app to use on a mobile or tablet and would advise this for use on a PC or laptop for the best user experience. You can find out more about Microsoft Teams here.

You will need the following equipment:

  • Device with internet access
  • Headset or a device with speakers
  • Device with a microphone

You are required to have completed The FA Safeguarding Children Workshop before applying for this workshop.

It’s also mandatory for anyone taking on the role of Welfare Officer to have an accepted FA Criminal Record Check – so learners are advised to have, as a minimum, submitted their CRC application prior to attending this training.

Outcomes

At the end of the workshop you will be able to:

  • Identify what needs to be in place for clubs/leagues to safeguard and protect children effectively

Really enjoyed the course, the tutor delivered the material perfectly with a healthy blend of theory/practical learning scenarios. The session was enjoyable, the group were quickly at ease and was planned out in such a way that all delegates got to mix and learn with all attendees.

Unfortunately not. Each individual learner is required to book their place using their own FAN and Password. This is to ensure our information on medical conditions, emergency contacts etc is accurate and up to date. The booking agreement is always between Hertfordshire FA and the individual learner.
We are unable to reserve places or take part payments for any of our courses. Bookings are taken on a first come first served basis from online registration where full payment is required.
We run a variety of courses in a variety of formats –some weekend only, some mid-week, some a mix of the two etc. We ensure that we run the variety of formats and courses across the county throughout the year and attendance may require flexibility from each learner i.e. travel further afield within the county to get the dates best suited or be flexible on dates to attend at preferred venue. Whilst we try to provide as many options to our volunteers as possible we are restricted to how we deliver courses due to tutor and facility availability.
