Meet our incredible Tutor Workforce that are responsible for delivering Hertfordshire FA's Coach Education programme.

The need to provide support to those people coaching players at all levels of the National Game has long been recognised by The Football Association as key to the development of the game in this country.

Each year Hertfordshire FA runs a thorough Coach Education programme that gives the coaching community the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge in coaching and other disciplines.

Get to know the tutor workforce we have delivering Coach Education courses in Hertfordshire below.

 Jody Caudwell
 Hertfordshire FA County Coach Developer
Jody Cauldwell Hertfordshire FA

After joining The FA in August 2015 Jody has enjoyed supporting, mentoring and guiding coaches from the grassroots community, with specific support for the coach education program in Hertfordshire. Jody was formerly employed by Nottingham Forrest FC and Burton Albion FC.

Jody says: "I’m excited to improve the already high standard of coaching in the county and consequently the experience for the players in Hertfordshire. I also hope that my experience of coaching youth players in the professional game over the last ten years will add value to my work when supporting our coaches of the future in Hertfordshire."


 John Bayer
 Hertfordshire FA Associate Tutor

John recently completed 10 years as Technical Director at Arsenal's Female Centre of Excellence, where he was responsible for developing young female players from 9 to 17 years of age. He also managed the Arsenal Ladies First Team working with players like Kelly Smith, Casey Stoney and Alex Scott.

John was also Chairman of a grassroots Club with 10 adult sides, 14 youth sides and 2 female sides. He tutors Level 1, Level 2, Safeguarding Children and Welfare Officer Courses for Hertfordshire F.A. & the A.F.A and runs a Football Consultancy offering practical advice on coaching and player development.

John says: "I'm a tutor and coach educator because I love the game - how it is learnt, how it is played and how it evolves."


 David Byrne
 Hertfordshire FA Associate Tutor 
Dave Byrne Hertfordshire FA

Recruited in August 2016 to deliver the FA Level 1 & 2 coaching courses, David also works full time for the Watford FC Community Sports and Education Trust where his primary role is heading up a satellite Football Academy at Westfield Academy in Watford that provides opportunities for 16 - 19 year old students.

David says: "So far I have really enjoyed the new FA Level 1 & 2 course content and believe that it sets a great foundation for upcoming coaches to develop new skills in order to create outstanding coaching environment for all players!"


 Kieran Fox
 Hertfordshire FA Associate Tutor 
Kieran Fox Hertfordshire FA

Since joining The FA in 2012 Kieran has worked with players and coaches across Hertfordshire by developing players from 5-11 years of age via The FA Skills Program. During his role within The FA he has supported and developed coaches from the grassroots & professional coaching community.

Kieran says: "I will continue to support coach education within Hertfordshire by sharing my coaching knowledge and experiences I have gained over the last 14 years working as a full-time professional coach in the professional and grassroots game. I very much look forward to meeting you on the Level 1 and/or Level 2 courses in the future."


 Colin Reid
 Hertfordshire FA Associate Tutor 
Colin Reid - Hertfordshire FA

Colin has worked coach education in for the past 26 years and during that time he has helped to develop coaches of all ages and abilities. He has also been employed in various roles by a number of professional clubs, including; Leyton Orient FC, Charlton Athletic FC, Tottenham Hotspur FC, West Ham FC and Stevenage FC.

Colin Says: "I am still passionate and enthusiastic about working with players and coaches alike, and enjoy working to enable coaches to pass on new found skills to develop the next generation of ‘future’ players at all levels. I have also been lucky enough to work across Europe over the past few years which has helped me to discover new methods and techniques to pass on to coaches here at home."


 Mark Swales
 Hertfordshire FA Associate Tutor 
Mark Swales Hertfordshire FA

Mark is a full-time FA Staff member with responsibility for coach education in the Educational environment. His previous work experience includes 13 years in teaching as Director of Sport, and 2 years at Millwall FC as their Head of Education and Welfare.

Mark Says: "My current roles requires me to work with Premier league and Football League clubs in the development of coaches, as well as working with universities to up skill and support future teachers. My experiences have provided me with a clear vision on the importance of coach education to develop coaches and players who become lifelong learners and lovers of the game."
