East Anglian Counties Championship - Boys U18 Section

Hertfordshire FA 4 - 1 Norfolk FA

In an entertaining game Hertfordshire ran out 4-1 winners in their first game of the season.

With both teams trying to establish an early lead Hertfordshire struck first. Liam Sweeney player a high ball deep into the opposition half where Alfie Barker lobbed the keeper to make it 1-0. Norfolk pressed hard for an equalizer but Hertfordshire extended their lead before half time to make it 2-0. Left back Michael Sampson went on a long run down the wing and cut it back to Charlie Joy for a tap in.

Norfolk came out in the second half looking to get a goal back but it was Hertfordshire who extended their lead through a twenty five yard shot from Paul Morris.

Luke Jones scored Hertfordshire's fourth of the day when his shot took a couple of deflections before crossing the line. 4-0.

Norfolk did manage to grab a consolation goal.

Hertfordshire FA 2 - 1 Bedfordshire FA

A goal a few minutes from the final whistle

Hertfordshire FA got a late winner in an entertaining match against Bedfordshire where either team could have taken the three points.

With play switching from end to end it was Bedfordshire who took the lead with a well worked goal. A high cross from the right caused problems for the Hertfordshire defence and it was the Befordshire player who got to the ball first to make it 0-1.

Hertfordshire pressed for the equalizer for the remainder of the first half but some fine saves from Mitchell Payne meant Bedfordshire went in at the break leading.  

The second half carried on similar to the first half with both teams attacking and opportunities at both ends. However, it was Hertfordshire who got the equalizer mid way through the second half. Antonio Guidi scored with a well hit shot from around 10 yards, game on.

Both teams then had chances to win the game but Jamie Hands got the winner for Hertfordshire with just two minutes to go to get Hertfordshire all three points.
