Keeping you updated on the status of Coaching, Safeguarding and Referee courses in Hertfordshire following the COVID-19 pandemic
UPDATED 20/11/2020 11:30
Following the announcement by the Government of further restrictions to be in place from 5th November to 2nd December, we can confirm all FA education course delivery is postponed during this period. This includes Coaching (including in-situ visits), Referee, Safeguarding and First Aid courses.
We continue to work with The FA to understand any future impact on FA education courses beyond 2nd December 2020 and will issue further updates as soon as we are able.
Hertfordshire FA have been working closely with FA Education to look at restarting delivery of our Education Courses in line with FA and DCMS COVID-19 Guidance. This has involved some considerable adaptations to the way courses are delivered, including additional training for our tutor workforce and amendments to our venues to ensure they are COVID-19 compliant.
Through this process we have identified the following priorities:
• To support learners who had already started a course and need to finish aspects of this for their qualification
• Those who have paid for a course but have not been able to start the course
It is with regret that Hertfordshire FA, like many other County FAs across the country have made the decision not to run any new coaching courses until at least April 2021. This is due to our capacity to meet the demand from those groups listed above.
This is also in conjunction with guidance outlined by The FA Education department, who are working towards the launch of a new suite of Education courses from April 2021 and beyond which will include interactive learning.
Below is some further information and guidance on specific courses that may help:
The basic Referee Course is currently under review by the FA Referee’s Department. Hertfordshire FA plan to run Referee courses from November 2020 onwards (subject to relevant COVID restrictions locally or nationally) and will update here as soon as we have confirmation of this.
Referee Feedback Workshops
If you have already undertaken a Referee Course and need to attend a Feedback Workshop to complete your qualification, we are working to schedule these according to demand (once COVID restrictions allow). If you have completed your 5 games and would like to register your interest to attend one of these, please complete the online form and we will get in touch with details of upcoming dates .
Introductory Coaching Courses
If you are new to coaching and don’t have a Level 1 qualification, please complete the new online FA Playmaker in the first instance. This is free and acts as an introduction to the FA Level 1 course that will be available from April 2021.
FA Level 2 and UEFA B Coaching Courses
The FA Level 2 & UEFA B Coaching courses are currently under review by The FA. We continue to work with The FA to consider when these courses will be available again. Please be aware however that at this point, no new courses are planned to be delivered for FA Level 2 or UEFA B before April 2021.
If your previous FA Safeguarding qualification has expired (or is more than two-and-a-half years old) you can renew this online via The FA Safeguarding Children Re-Certification.
If you have not completed an FA Safeguarding Workshop before, please complete the online Safeguarding for All module. New online Safeguarding Workshops are being developed and will be available in early 2021.
If you are a Club Welfare Officer that needs to complete the relevant training for this position, a new online course will be available from November 2020.
First Aid Courses
If your IFAiF qualification was due to expire since March 2020, your current qualification should have automatically been extended by The FA until February 2021. If you have not completed the FA Introductory First Aid in Football before, please complete the online learning available around Concussion and Sudden Cardiac Arrest. We are working with The FA to deliver new Emergency First Aid courses in 2021.
