HM Queen Elizabeth II: 1926 - 2022
It is with the deepest sadness that we have learned of the passing of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II
Her Majesty’s unwavering devotion to a life of service has been an inspiration to the people of the United Kingdom and beyond throughout her historic reign.
Everyone at Hertfordshire FA offers their sincere condolences to the Royal Family at this time of national mourning.
Her Majesty the Queen was a long-standing Patron of The Football Association and has left a lasting and indelible legacy on our national game. As a mark of respect, following the passing of Her Majesty the Queen, English football united to postpone all football fixtures between 9-11 September. We would like to express our thanks and gratitude to everyone across our game for their support and understanding at this difficult time.
After a period of pause and reflection for our national game, we it has now been confirmed that fixtures will now resume as scheduled. It has been recommended to clubs, leagues and competitions across the country that a minute’s silence is observed before matches are played, and that black armbands should be worn where possible.
The FA can also confirm that all scheduled football matches will be postponed on the day of Her Majesty the Queen’s funeral on Monday 19 September. We can also confirm that The County Ground will be closed for the day. Our office and Community Football Centre will reopen as usual on Tuesday 20th.
Our thoughts remain with His Majesty King Charles III, our president, HRH The Prince of Wales, and the whole of the Royal Family.
