Hertfordshire FA Achieves Equality Standard
We are delighted to announce that Hertfordshire FA has achieved the Foundation Level of the Equality Standard for Sport
The Equality Standard for Sport is owned by UK Sport and is a framework that assists sports organisations to widen access for under-represented individuals, groups and communities, and to reduce inequalities in sport and physical activity.
It’s built around developing both the organisation and the organisation’s services, and has four progressive levels – Foundation, Preliminary, Intermediate and Advanced.
Hertfordshire FA had to show it has suitable policies and practices in place, producing a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate that our organisation:
- demonstrates a clear commitment to equality
- has a policy for equality which has been shared with stakeholders
- is aware of their current profile and position in terms of equality.
This evidence has been externally assessed by an independent verifier and we are proud to have been confirmed as achieving the required standard.
Regarding the announcement, CEO Karl Lingham said:
“We are delighted Hertfordshire FA achieved the Foundation Level of the Equality Standard for Sport. Creating a safe and inclusive environment is a key part of our strategy, ensuring the game is welcoming for all and is representative of our diverse community”.
“Football in Hertfordshire should be open and accessible to anyone who wants to be involved, in whatever capacity and level they want to take part. Achieving the Foundation Level of the Equality Standard for Sport is an important milestone for us, but it’s just the first step and we fully intend to to building on this further in the years ahead”.
“With our Inclusion Advisory Group now firmly established we look forward to working with them and all of our stakeholders to push forward towards reaching the next level”.
