Support for Disability Football

How we can help you create opportunities

We can help you create opportunities for players with a disability

We believe in flexible, inclusive and accessible playing opportunities for all and are committed to delivering a range of opportunities for players with a disability to access football at relevant levels across the county. We can't do this alone however, so as with all grassroots football we work to support volunteers who create clubs and leagues, coach teams and officiate matches so that everyone has the chance to enjoy the game.

If you want to get involved in disability football but don't know where to start then please get in touch. We can offer help, support and guidance and in some cases training and even funding that could support you in getting your project up and running.

Below are details of some of the ways we can help:

Coach Development

Hertfordshire FA are working alongside local partners to provide opportunities for coaches across the county to improve their knowledge and enhance their understanding of coaching players with disabilities. These include the FA Level 1 in Coaching Football course, the FA Coaching Disabled Footballers course, and a number of disability-specific workshops delivered by guest speakers who have a wealth of experience in their field. The above opportunities are offered to any individuals who are currently, or are aspiring to become a coach in either a mainstream or a disability setting.

For more information on the above opportunities, or if you would like to suggest topics for upcoming events, please get in touch.

Referee Development

With two leagues and an abundance of recreational activity across Hertfordshire, there are plenty of opportunities for referees to get involved in the disability game. Hertfordshire FA wants to support referees in gaining the knowledge and understanding required to ensure that match days are the best they can be for both officials and players.

As of this season, referees now have the opportunity to join the Hertfordshire Referee Disability Group. As a member of this group, referees will have access to mentorship from experienced officials in the disability game, as well as exclusive access to bespoke disability workshops throughout the season. These workshops will be hosted across the county and are aimed at enhancing referee knowledge on the range of disabilities that they will encounter on match days.

For more information on the Hertfordshire Referee Disability Group, please get in touch.

Club Development

 - Pledge Project

The Pledge Project is an initiative designed to raise awareness of, and develop existing provisions in disability football across Hertfordshire. Hertfordshire FA invites all grassroots affiliated clubs, as well as all educational institutions to sign up for the Pledge Project and showcase their commitment to disability football. Will you help us to ensure that every player with a disability that wants to play can play?

For more information on the Pledge Project and how to make a pledge, get in touch.
